Meddius Unveils the World's Fastest Integration Appliance for the Healthcare Industry

Integration Router(TM) can process over 5.5 million HL7 messages per hour

between healthcare applications

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Meddius, an emerging provider of next-generation integration appliances for the healthcare industry, unveiled that its Integration Router(TM) can process over 5.5 million HL7 messages per hour. The announcement was made today at the 2008 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Orlando, Florida.

The Meddius Integration Router(TM) provides data transformation, communication and routing functions between clinical applications. Its core engine provides transport mediation and message transformation between disparate formats, including HL7 v2.x and v3.x, X12, EDI, DICOM, XML, binary, and legacy formats. By using integration appliances, hospitals can integrate data previously residing in separate applications without a costly investment in a new software infrastructure. For vendors, incorporating an integration appliance into their healthcare solution can help streamline integration efforts and eliminate costly deployment delays.

Using the Integration Router(TM) as a persistent store-and-forward HL7 engine, numerous load testing cycles demonstrated that the appliance could consistently simultaneously send and receive up to 1550 messages per second, with a standard deviation of +/- 20 messages per second. The resulting transformation and routing statistics clearly illustrates that the Integration Router's(TM) raw performance is several magnitude faster than other integration appliances on the market.

"Bringing to market the fastest integration appliance is a testament to our relentless commitment to developing innovative products," said Jeff Gunther, Meddius' President. "The Integration Router's(TM) superior performance, remarkable scalability, ease of deployment, and attractive monthly subscription pricing provides unprecedented business value to our customers and the healthcare market."
