Meddius Signs Agreement to Deliver an Integration Platform for Premier's SafetySurveillor(TM)
Date:2/25/2008

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Meddius, an emerging provider of integration appliances for healthcare organizations, will provide integration technology and professional services to assist with the deployment of Premier's SafetySurveillor(TM) infection control system, which provides hospitals with a Web-based, automated approach to detect and alert staff of healthcare associated infections (HAIs). The announcement was made today at the 2008 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Orlando, Florida.

Meddius will provide a comprehensive integration platform for Premier's customers to integrate their clinical data into the SafetySurveillor system. A key component of the platform is Meddius' Integration Router(TM). This integration appliance delivers message transformation, communication and routing functions within a single, rack-mountable network device. The core engine transforms between disparate message formats, including HL7, X12, EDI, XML and binary, and provides transport mediation.

"Meddius' integration technology offered more flexibility and cutting-edge technology for transforming data than other solutions we evaluated," according to Steve Davis, Premier's Chief Technical Officer for SafetySurveillor. "Furthermore, their appliance requires little to no re-configuration of the hospital firewall to allow data transport, making SafetySurveillor implementation easier and faster for our customers."

"Our partnership with Premier is a testament to the trend we see in the industry -- sophisticated healthcare organizations demanding more cost- effective, innovative integration solutions," said Jeff Gunther, Meddius' President. "Our goal is to further develop integration solutions for the healthcare industry that will ultimately improve patient care. Our venture with Premier will enable us to do that."
