MedcomSoft appoints former U.S. presidential health advisor, James Haveman, to health Care advisory board

ichigan Department of Mental Health. He spent 12 years in cabinet-level positions under Governor John Engler of Michigan. In 1996, Engler named Haveman the first director of the Michigan Department of Community Health - an agency that consolidated a number of healthcare functions into one department and that provided care to 1.5 million people. Haveman held that position until 2003.

Havemen is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2000. A member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Certified Social Workers, Haveman has garnered more than 20 professional and civic service awards, including the U.S. Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service (2004) and the Detroit News Michiganian of the Year Award (2004).
