MedThink Hires Associate Scientific Director to Support Its Growing Health Care Clientele
Date:3/12/2009

RALEIGH, N.C., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MedThink Communications, a full-service health care communications agency, has hired a doctorate-level associate scientific director to support its rapidly expanding medical communications services.

Todd A. Parker joins two scientific directors at MedThink who provide high-level strategic guidance to their pharmaceutical and health care clients. With a team of seven doctorate-level medical writers, the scientific directors develop and implement strategies for communicating preclinical and clinical data through publication planning, scientific communication points, advisory board development and other initiatives. Currently, the team serves more than a dozen health care clients locally and nationally.

MedThink's scientific staff also ensures the scientific rigor and accuracy of the company's diverse promotional offerings, including brand development, media and digital services, advertising and public relations.

"Todd brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of oncology and immunotherapy, two areas that complement the agency's wide range of therapeutic expertise in cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases and numerous other areas," said Larry Nelson, scientific director at MedThink.

"MedThink has acquired 10 new clients during the past year, a level of growth that prompted us to seek additional resources to ensure that we maintain the highest level of scientific expertise and service for our clients," said Mary Beth Moncrief, also a scientific director at MedThink.

Parker holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology, with an emphasis on immunology, from Mississippi State University. He began his career as a research scientist at GeneBact Biotechnologies in Athens, Ohio, and continued his career as a scientist at Ohio University, where he studied protein signaling pathways in murine tumors to elucidate their role in cancer growth and metastasis.

Parker then transitioned into the medical communications field, starting as a medical writer at ProEd Communications and advancing to the position of scientific director before assuming the position at MedThink.
