Mecklenburg EMS Agency Teams Up with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and Others to Educate the Public on Health Related Initiatives

Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte will hold a free Community Wellness Fair to educate the public on health initiatives and provide wellness screenings. The fair will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the University City YMCA (8100 Old Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 29262).

Medic, the Y, the American Heart Association and the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services are working toward a healthier Mecklenburg County. Together, these agencies are striving to bring awareness to health prevention initiatives available in Mecklenburg County and to give the public access to understanding their own health needs. Activities are geared toward all ages and everyone is encouraged to attend. Activities will include, but are not limited to:

  •     Hands-Only CPR Training
  •     Blood Pressure and Glucose Screenings
  •     Heart Health Education
  •     Child Water Safety Information
  •     Mecklenburg Public Health & Family Resources

The Wellness Fair is scheduled in conjunction with National EMS Week. In honor of this national celebration, Medic wanted to give back to the Mecklenburg community by providing free health and wellness information.
