McRoskey Mattress Company Comforts Homeless/Low-Income Residents of San Francisco's Canon Barcus Community House With Bed Donation
Date:6/16/2009

SAN FRANCISCO, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- As a part of its ongoing support of the Canon Barcus Community House of San Francisco, the McRoskey Mattress Company today delivered new mattress and box spring sets to the community house's newest resident families.

McRoskey Mattress began its affiliation with the Canon Barcus Community House in 2002, providing new beds for each bedroom of the newly opened residential facility's 48 apartments. Since that time, the family-owned San Francisco-based mattress manufacturer has donated mattress sets for resident families upon their move-in whenever possible.

According to McRoskey President and Owner Robin McRoskey Azevedo, providing McRoskey mattresses and box springs to the homeless or very low-income families who come to the Canon Barcus House is a labor of love -- and the McRoskey way. "We are deeply invested in our community," said McRoskey Azevedo. "Providing our high-quality mattresses to these families in need is simply a good thing to do. Working with Episcopal Community Services is a natural fit with our philosophy as a family-owned and operated business. Plus, the comfort and support of our mattress provides better rest for better health."

Operated by the Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco (ECS), the Canon Barcus Community House opened in March 2002 to provide permanent housing to homeless, very low-income families, many living with special needs such as mental illness, physical disabilities and substance use. The five-story, 48-unit building includes: four one-bedroom flats, twelve two-bedroom flats and townhouses, twenty-seven three-bedroom flats and townhouses and five four-bedroom townhouses.
