McGuire Memorial to Host Annual Gala and Auction Event

Proceeds to benefit the special children and adults of McGuire Memorial

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- McGuire Memorial, a ministry of the Felician Sisters of Coraopolis, will hold its annual dinner and gala event, A Special Auction for Special People, this Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Pittsburgh Westin Convention Center Hotel beginning at 6 p.m.

Sally Wiggin, WTAE-TV news anchor and award-winning broadcast journalist, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The Most Reverend David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh, will offer the invocation.

The evening will include a dinner and silent auction with more than 150 items to bid on, followed by a live auction featuring such items as a two-week vacation in Greece, autographed Steelers and Penguins memorabilia, jewelry, and resort vacations.

Among the items to be raffled will be a 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500.

Proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the children and adults of McGuire Memorial by enhancing the expansion of The School at McGuire Memorial, a private school licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The School at McGuire Memorial serves children and adults with multiple disabilities or autism, as well as those who are medically fragile.

The 2007 Special Auction for Special People is made possible through the dedication of the McGuire Memorial Foundation, the Special Auction for Special People Auction Committee and the McGuire Memorial Board of Directors. McGuire Memorial, a ministry of the Felician Sisters located in Western Pennsylvania, provides outstanding educational and therapeutic services for individuals from pre-school through adulthood who may be medically fragile, and who have other developmental disabilities which may include cerebral palsy and autism. Services and supports include main campus residential, community homes, respite care, a licensed school, and adult day programs.
