McCormick, MD, Named to AMA Council

CHICAGO, June 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the Annual Meeting of the American Medical Association (AMA), Patrick W. McCormick, MD, was elected to a position on the AMA's Council of Ethical and Judicial Affairs (CEJA) for a term ending in 2015.

The Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs (CEJA) develops ethics policy for the AMA. Composed of seven practicing physicians, a resident or fellow, and a medical student, the Council prepares reports that analyze and address timely ethical issues that confront physicians and the medical profession.

CEJA also maintains and updates the 160-year-old AMA Code of Medical Ethics, widely recognized as the most comprehensive ethics guide for physicians who strive to practice ethically.

Dr. McCormick is a native of Toledo, Ohio, where he practices neurological surgery with Neurosurgical Network, Inc.

Dr. McCormick is active in organized medicine as a member of the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association and Toledo and Lucas County Academy of Medicine, where he served as president.

In addition, Dr. McCormick is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and is a diplomat of the America Board of Neurological Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. McCormick serves on the regional bioethics committee of Mercy Health Partners Northwest Ohio and studied at the graduate level at the Medical College of the University of Wisconsin in Bioethics and Physician Professionalism. In addition to his extensive medical training, Dr. McCormick also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Michigan.
