Massage therapy school trains for in-demand careers in massage therapy - Pima Medical Institute trains students to meet 19 percent increase in demand for career as estimated by Federal government.

(Vocus) July 1, 2010 -- Massage therapy school, Pima Medical Institute, offers a robust massage therapy training program in Mesa that helps train students for a career in massage therapy. According to the most recent report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in the industry are in-demand. In fact, the report projects that the growth of massage therapist positions will increase by 19 percent through 2018.

The Mesa massage therapy school at Pima Medical Institute trains students for careers as massage therapists. The school teaches a variety of massage techniques during the nine-month program, including Swedish massage; condition-specific massage, which helps alleviate back and neck pain; massage for special populations like the elderly, infants and pregnant women; reflexology; lymphatic massage; spa treatments such as body and foot scrubs; hot stone massage; and sports-injury management.

“At Pima Medical Institute, our massage therapy program provides students with a well-rounded education that includes both traditional classroom instruction and hands-on experience at our student-run spa, Spa Pima, which is open to the public,” said Kristen Torres, campus director for Pima Medical Institute’s Mesa campus.

Students can expect to take courses that build their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology and kinesiology, among other facets of massage, body work and health ca
