Date:11/19/2009

Marriott's Corporate Social Responsibility program supports France's AFM Telethon 2009. The 10 Marriott, Renaissance and Courtyard hotels in Paris are organising fund raising activities to help the AFM (French Muscular Dystrophy Association) fight neuromuscular diseases.

Paris, France (PRWEB) November 19, 2009 -- For the third consecutive year, Marriott's 10 hotels in Paris have joined the fight against neuromuscular diseases by raising funds for the AFM Telethon in France. The event will take place on the 4th and 5th December 2009 with the goal of generating donations to support the AFM's research programs and services for people with neuromuscular diseases and to inform the general public about rare genetic disorders.

Since the first Telethon in 1987, the AFM has invested in research into gene-based therapies which are the best hope for curing thousands of currently incurable diseases, whether they are genetic diseases, like most neuromuscular diseases, or rare or even common diseases.

Marriott International has a long history of social responsibility and community engagement embodied by its 'Spirit to Serve our Communities' Corporate Social Responsibility program. The 10 Marriott, Renaissance and Courtyard hotels in Paris, France have a Business Council that meets regularly to set up various charitable, social and environmental activities throughout the year, and the current focus is to raise funds for the AFM Telethon 2009. After raising 4'291 in 2007 and 5'692 in 2008, Marriott International in Paris aims to reach an even higher number this year to help fight neuromuscular diseases. The fund raising activities organised by Marriott's hotels in Paris this year are listed below.

The pancake sale will take place on Friday the 4th December from 12PM to 6PM right in front of the Champs Elysées Marriott hotel situated at n°70 of the famous avenue.

Motorbike-Taxi City Tour

The tour takes a scenic route showing major Paris landmarks and complimentary coffee stops are offered at each hotel stop-off. The money generated from the rides will be donated to the AFM Telethon 2009.

Cocktail for the former members of the Toques Blanches association
On the 5th December the Paris Marriott Hotel Champs-Elysées is sponsoring a cocktail reception organized for the ceremony during which the former members of the Toques Blanches association give a check to the AFM Telethon. The Toques Blanches (meaning "white hat" or "chef's hat") is an international association born in Paris, France, that brings together over 2'500 invitation only members working in relation to the world of professional cooking. Every year the French chapter coordinates hundreds of fund raising activities carried out by students in cooking schools throughout France. The check will be donated by former members of the Toques Blanches and will be handed over to French actress Corinne Touzet, representing the AFM Telethon 2009.
