- Innovative Program to Increase Access to Care by Expanding the Medical Home -

MILWAUKEE, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Managed Health Services (MHS) today announced a partnership with Milwaukee Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Milwaukee, to open MHS Convenient Care Clinic. In midtown, located in the Southwest Corner of Lena's Supermarket, 4061 North 54th Street, the clinic will offer residents of medically underserved areas a convenient location to get quality healthcare beginning in August 2009.

The goals of the MHS Convenient Care Clinic are to increase access to care in underserved areas and to promote preventive healthcare through primary care physicians. The clinic was specifically chosen for its convenient location inside a high traffic supermarket. Staffed by licensed Nurse Practitioners, the clinic will become an expansion of the Medical Home for community residents. The clinic will provide access to timely and appropriate care for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, standard health screenings, routine laboratory testing, flu shots and other vaccinations and routine physical examinations.

C.C. Henderson, President and Chief Executive Officer for Milwaukee Health Services, stated, "We are pleased to work with MHS to offer a high-quality alternative to Emergency Rooms and Urgent Care Centers for individuals who might not otherwise have access to care. The MHS Convenient Care Clinic will encompass all aspects of our standards for high-quality programming offered in a convenient care modality."

Sherry Husa, President and Chief Executive Officer for MHS, stated, "MHS is committed to providing quality health programs and resources to underserved communities, and Milwaukee Health Services was a good fit for us. They have a long-standing relationship with physicians who have extensive experience treating underserved individuals and they understand the importance of health education and quality relationships with their patients."
