Brant County Health Unit Implements Ericom's PowerTerm(R) WebConnect for Secure Remote Access to Windows Terminal Servers from PCs Running SUSE(R)

Linux Enterprise Desktop from Novell

CLOSTER, N.J., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ericom Software, a leader in Application Access and Virtualization solutions, today announced that the Brant County Health Unit, a major Canadian community health agency, has evaluated, selected and successfully deployed Ericom's alternative to Citrix, PowerTerm WebConnect, enabling secure access to Windows Terminal Server applications from Health Unit PCs running SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop from Novell.

Prior to PowerTerm WebConnect's implementation, users needed both desktop systems and SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop powered laptops in order to access all necessary applications and records. With Ericom's solution, users can efficiently access all applications and records solely from their laptops, eliminating redundant desktops. PowerTerm WebConnect provides access to Windows Terminal Servers, Virtual Desktops, Blade PCs and legacy hosts with full compatibility. The Brant County Health Unit has already begun to realize significant cost savings with Ericom's PowerTerm WebConnect, by lowering overall IT management and maintenance costs with desktop consolidation.

"My main requirement was ease-of-use for both the administrator and the end-user," said Rob Bannerman, the Health Unit's Computer System Administrator. "We don't have time for complicated set-ups and updates. It was great to be able to get PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView set up and running in a short amount of time. As a result of deploying PowerTerm WebConnect, staff members can use their laptops for everyth
