MS Website Marks Its First Anniversary with a New Library

In its first year of operation, MSology (http://www.msology.ca) has greeted over 30,000 visitors from 181 countries. While articles are written in English, readers around the world are able to access the information with their search engine’s translation service.

“There’s a tremendous need for accurate, up-to-date stories about the latest MS research,” says editor Steven Manners. “Many of our readers are from countries where MS is highly prevalent – such as Canada, the U.S. and northern Europe. But we also have many readers in countries where MS is less common. These people need information too, but they may not have easy access to MS services where they live. We hope MSology provides everyone who visits the site with the information they need to make informed choices.”

The MSology site includes articles about new research, background pieces, tips and tools, and audio interviews with leading researchers.

The new MSology Library will add to the website’s goal of providing accurate, unbiased information about MS. The Library will enable people to access original articles published in medical journals so they can read the research for themselves. There will be clinical trial results for all of the new treatments, articles on drug safety and side effects, and reviews explaining the MS disease process and how to manage MS symptoms.

Readers who subscribe to MSology will be notified about new articles as they are added to the Library. Subscribing to MSology is free.

“Over the past 10 years, over 25,000 articles have been published in medical journals about MS,” Manners says. “We can post only a small sample, but we wanted to provide people with easy access to some of the research that is being done. We hope the Library enables people to explore some of the ideas driving MS research today, and to have better discussions with their doctors about how to manage their disease.”
