Largest Medicaid health plan in Indiana experienced a 50 percent membership
growth since 2007
INDIANAPOLIS, May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- MDwise employees today are celebrating the latest milestone for this 14-year-old, not-for-profit Indiana managed health care plan -- surpassing the 300,000 mark in membership.
In addition to the strong member growth since January 1, 2007, the company has also grown its employee base by 182 percent -- going from just over 50 employees at that time to 141 employees today.
MDwise, Inc., is the largest Medicaid health care plan in the state of Indiana, and the only one to serve all three of the State's Medicaid programs: Hoosier Healthwise, Care Select and the Healthy Indiana Plan. MDwise began by serving 2,000 central Indiana members of the Hoosier Healthwise program in 1995, and grew to 55,000 members in 2001. At that time the program was launched statewide, and enrollment surpassed 100,000 individuals in 2003.
After becoming licensed as an HMO in January of 2007 and securing a new state contract, MDwise now provides services to members of Indiana's Care Select program and Healthy Indiana Plan, in addition to Hoosier Healthwise. Both have attributed to the company's recent growth.
"We are honored to be serving so many Hoosiers in need of our services," said Charlotte A. MacBeth, J.D., FACHE, president of MDwise. "Today, MDwise employees proudly celebrated their role in promoting a healthier lifestyle to our members."
