Lymphoma Research Foundation Raises Nearly $50,000 at Swirl, A Wine Tasting Event in Miami Beach
Date:4/8/2015

Miami Beach, Florida (PRWEB) April 08, 2015

The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – hosted Swirl, A Wine Tasting Event for the second time in Miami Beach, FL on Thursday, March 26, 2015. The event hosted over 130 attendees at the La Gorce Country Club and raised nearly $50,000 to support LRF’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those affected by this disease.

“With more than 5,000 Floridians diagnosed with lymphoma each year, raising awareness of this disease and of the Lymphoma Research Foundation is so critically important,” said Leigh Olson, co-chair of Swirl and LRF Board Member. “I am thrilled with the success of the Swirl event and know firsthand that the funds raised will help accelerate the Foundation’s mission and bring us closer to finding a cure for lymphoma.”

Wine experts from Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. were on hand to pour and discuss an incredible selection of wines, all of which were ranked at one point as #1 in the world by Wine Spectator. This marks the second consecutive time that Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. has generously donated a selection of world-class wines for Swirl, enabling all funds to go directly to supporting LRF’s mission.

“Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. is proud to partner with the Lymphoma Research Foundation in their fight against blood cancer,” said Kevin Fennessey Executive Vice President, Commercial Strategy at Southern Wine & Spirits of America. “We hope that the funds and awareness we were able to help raise today goes a long way in finding a cure, and our organization hopes to continue to play a vital part in the LRF mission of eradicating lymphoma.”

This year’s Swirl, A Wine Tasting Event was co-chaired by Walter Andrews, Debbie & Kevin Fennessey, Barbara & Jerry Freundlich, Leigh & Cory Olson, and Florence & Robert Werner. Since its inception, the event has raised approximately $85,000 for the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s mission.
