Lyme Talks Series Begins January 3 in Greenwich

Lyme Research Alliance announces its Lyme Talks program for 2013, meeting on the first Thursday of every month from 7pm-8.30pm. Guest speakers share information from their specialty, addressing issues that are of concern to families and individuals living with Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Following the featured speaker presentation space is reserved for support time, moderated by Angela LaManna, MSW, LCSW a Lyme literate therapist who recognizes the special needs of people suffering from chronic illness due to tick borne diseases. All meetings are held at the Evaristo Room in Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road, Greenwich, CT (unless otherwise specified). The 2013 schedule is:

JANUARY 3
Topic: Managing Lyme Disease as a Teenager.
Speaker: Angela LaManna, MSW, LCSW.
Teenagers welcome! Navigating the teenage years is difficult enough without the complication of Lyme disease. In addition to the medical component there are implications for school attendance, academic curriculum, and managing social expectations. The discussion will include a screening of “Living the Lyme Life,” a DVD developed for high school students.

FEBRUARY 7
Topic: Making Your Home a Healthy Living Environment.
Speaker: Matthew Waletzke, Certified Building Biologist Consultant. In addition to being a principal at Healthy Dwellings (http://www.healthydwellings.com), Matthew has run a wellness center and has a background in energy medicine and biofeedback. Matthew’s talk will address how to transform your living environment for optimal health and eliminate toxins from your home environment.
