Lutronic Inc. Announces FDA Clearance of Its Spectra VRM III Q-Switched Nd: Yag Laser System for Treating a Broad Spectrum of Dermatological and Aesthetic Conditions
Date:5/20/2008

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lutronic, one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of medical laser systems, announced today that it has received FDA clearance to market its Spectra VRM III multiple laser wavelength system. This dual pulse Q-Switched Nd: Yag laser is the feature-laden successor to the Spectra VRM II. It is specifically designed to treat a wide array of dermatological and aesthetic conditions by photo-acoustical removal of epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions including all types of tattoo colors. The highly versatile VRM III is the most powerful laser available in its class. Its intuitive smart exchange communicative software allows treatment of a wide variety of cosmetic and medical conditions for general dermatology, dermatologic and general surgical procedures for coagulation and hemostasis.

The 1064nm operates in both a "Q"-switched and long pulse mode. This is a first in the medical laser industry and affords results that have traditionally required two different lasers. Taken together with a "Q"-switched 532nm and two 532 pumped dye hand-pieces that produce 585nm and 650nm, the Spectra VRM III is the perfect solution for treating multi-colored tattoos, including light and dark inks.

The key to this unique laser is its extremely high peak powers that allow the pulse width to be fixed at the shortest pulse width. This feature is unique and is not available today anywhere else in the industry. Additionally, when increasing the energy there is no need to increase its pulse width and as a result, the photo-acoustical effect is greatly enhanced. For troublesome lesions such as melasma, this unit has become the system and treatment of choice in Europe and Asia, and it is anticipated that US physicians will immediately embrace and embellish this capability.

Jhung-Won Hwang, Ph.D., Sr. Director of Regulatory Affairs, Lutronic Inc., adds, "One of the more notable features of the VRM III is the
