Loyola University New Orleans Presents a History of Nursing in its New Infographic: Nursing Evolution

Presented by the online Master of Science in Nursing program at Loyola University New Orleans, “Nursing Evolution” celebrates 150 years of modern-day nursing, exploring the history and heritage of the nursing industry from the technological advancements to patient-centered care.

The multi-faceted responsibilities facing nurses and the diverse skill sets now required are not lost on the education Loyola University New Orleans provides, dating back to the birth of modern-day nursing. Beginning with the significant influences made by the “mother of modern-day nursing” Florence Nightingale in 1853, the infographic is a visual timeline of momentous events and contributions that molded the role of today’s nurse.

Rooted in Jesuit ideas and values, Loyola prepares working nurses for success in their pursuit of critical leadership roles in the health care industry.
