Los Angeles Ministers Answer Parishioner Needs by Learning Narconon Anti-Drug Curriculum
Date:9/19/2013

(PRWEB) September 19, 2013

In South Central Los Angeles, a group of pastors have found a new way to help their parishioners live safer, more enjoyable lives. Eight ministers have just completed their initial Narconon drug educator training to be able to deliver the drug ed classes.

The training began after a meeting a few months ago between the ministers and Tony Bylsma, a drug prevention specialist from Narconon Fresh Start, headquartered in Glendale. "They knew their communities were suffering from drug abuse and related crime," said Bylsma. "They wanted to offer more help, especially to keep young people out of trouble."

What followed was a series of lessons for the ministers, delivered at Carson Community Deliverance Center. Every other week for the next few months, the ministers learned about new drugs that are on the streets, and exactly what young people need to be told that will help turn them away from drug abuse.

"These ministers were my students for a few months," added Blysma. "Now, they have completed their initial training and some have already started going out to youth groups and other places where young people gather. I’ll continue to help them learn advanced points of drug education in future lessons."

The completion of their initial training provides eight more personnel delivering the Narconon curriculum in the Southland. Bylsma and another associate deliver this curriculum to schools and clubs all year round on behalf of Narconon Fresh Start. They are on target to reach more than 100,000 students this year.

"The more kids we can keep away from drugs or alcohol abuse, the better we can help them to grow up to make a better society," Bylsma concluded.
