Lorna Kleidman Applauds Woman’s Coast-to-Coast Run

On December 26, Lorna Kleidman responds to an article which highlights the recent admirable fitness accomplishment made by Australian runner Catherine Todd.

According to an article from Yahoo! News India, “Aussie Dr Catherine Todd set off from Lime Cafe in Jumeirah at 1 a.m. on November 15, and reached the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach resort on Friday morning [November 16] at 6:30 a.m., covering the 220km [135 mile] distance in 29 hours and 29 minutes.”

The article reports that Todd is an assistant professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. Long distance running is a passionate hobby for her, and as you can see she has become quite good at it. Todd stated that the run was both mentally and physically trying. According to the article, she even had to cut a hole in her right shoe to relieve the pain caused by a blister during the last leg of the marathon.

Yahoo! News India added that “after reaching the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort which had organized the challenge, Todd slept for 13 hours straight.” In addition, Todd also had a car following her throughout the run, supplying her with drinks. She said her next challenge will be a long-distance run in the United States.

Lorna Kleidman, a fitness expert that specializes in kettlebell exercises, applauded Todd’s efforts. “This woman has shown extraordinary determination as well as a passion for her sport,” Kleidman said. “I think everyone – especially women – can take a page from Catherine Todd’s book. If you stay dedicated, and set realistic but challenging goals for yourself, you can train your body to accomplish amazing feats. Kleidman added that although most of us cannot run coast-to-coast like Todd did, he
