ALPHARETTA, Ga., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Locum Leaders http://www.locumleaders.com) today announced the hire of Robert W. Harrington Jr., MD, FHM as the company's Chief Medical Officer. Among national locum tenens firms, Locum Leaders is the first to name a hospitalist as its Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Harrington brings national leadership experience in hospital medicine and physician workforce management to Locum Leaders. He was recognized in May 2009 by the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) as a member of the inaugural class of Fellows of Hospital Medicine (FHM). He also chairs the SHM Family Medicine Task Force and participated in the Society's first-ever Workforce Summit.
Most recently, Dr. Harrington served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for InCompass Health, one of the nation's leading for-profit hospitalist management groups. While at InCompass, he directed all of the company's medical directors and oversaw the standardization of care across programs including quality initiatives with an emphasis on Evidence Based Medicine (EBM).
Dr. Harrington earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame, attended medical school at Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA and completed residency training at the Medical Center of Delaware, Wilmington, DE. Following his training, he served in the United States Air Force where he rose to the rank of Major, USAF, Medical Corps.
Following his honorable discharge, Dr. Harrington worked in private practice as a family physician and also served as Hospitalist Program Medical Director for Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, NC and Dekalb Medical in Decatur, GA.
