Number of Needy Citizens Expected to Increase over Previous Years
DETROIT, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The 7th Annual Health Fair sponsored in conjunction with Oakwood Annapolis Hospital and the Michigan Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (MAPI) is scheduled to be held from 9am to 1pm on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Hindu Temple of Canton. The temple is located in the Detroit suburb of Canton, MI at 44955 Cherry Hill Road.
All participants must pre-register on-line in order to be eligible for the free screenings. The registration deadline has been extended to Thursday, April 9th. The on-line registration form for the health fair can be found at www.thehindutemple.org. If an interested party does not have access to the internet, they can call the Hindu Temple at 734.981.8730 to arrange to pick up a registration form in person.
Any Michigan resident is eligible to receive the free health screenings. Health Insurance is not required. Participation is limited to the first 300 registered participants and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Physicians and other certified health from Oakwood Annapolis Hospital will conduct the free screenings. The screenings include the following:
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Hearing Tests
- Blood Screenings for sugar, cholesterol, hemoglobin, and PSA *Note, no blood screenings can be conducted without overnight fasting (no food in stomach after midnight). Minimum age for blood tests is 25 years with valid proof of age
- Bone Density Test for women; based on recommendation of Primary Care Physician on site at health fair
- Talk directly to these specialists: Cardiologists, Urologists, Obstetrician-Gynecologists, Rheumatologists, Podiatrists, Endocrinologist, Internists, Ophthalmologists, Dentists, Gastroenterologists
Information Booths include materials on Hormone Replacement Therapy, Breast Cancer, Mammograms, Prostate Health, Cataracts, Nutrition and Lifestyle Enhancement.
