Local Chiropractic Doctor Graduates from Elite Whiplash Trauma Training Program Led by International Scientific Authority, Dr. Arthur Croft
Date:2/2/2009

Dr. Joel Stutzman graduated the world's first and only multi-module training program devoted exclusively to whiplash and brain injury trauma.

PAOLI, Pa., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Stutzman, local Doctor of Chiropractic practicing in Paoli, PA recently graduated from the world's only multi-module program devoted specifically to whiplash and brain injury traumatology. The Whiplash and Brain Traumatology Program is presented by the prestigious Spine Research Institute of San Diego. In doing so, he also is recognized as a crash safety instructor.

Led by Dr. Arthur C. Croft, one of the world's premier scientists in the field of brain injury traumatology and whiplash, this program is highly respected by medical professionals worldwide. In fact, Dr. Croft has co-authored the definitive textbook on the subject of whiplash, Whiplash Injuries: the Cervical Acceleration/Deceleration Syndrome, which is currently in its third edition.

Says Dr. Joel Stutzman: "Nearly three million whiplash injuries occur every year in the United States alone. Nearly half of these injuries result in long-term or permanent disability, including debilitating chronic pain. As physicians, it is our responsibility to learn as much as possible in order to help our patients achieve a positive clinical outcome. And this cutting-edge program is an ideal way to learn from one of the very best minds in this field of medical study."

"I recognize that continuing education and implementing the most current scientific methods of diagnosis and treatment are key in effectively dealing with this growing health issue."

He continues, "As our society becomes increasingly mobile, the incidence of injuries due to vehicle collisions continues to increase. The most common of these impact injuries is whiplash, which inflicts injury to not only the cervical region (neck), but also to the soft tissues that support and protect the entire spine. New evidence shows that often times such soft tissue injuries are not temporary as previously thought, and instead can produce painfully debilitating long-term effects. These negative effects can manifest not only as physical disabilities, but also as emotional issues such as depression and anxiety."

The science-based Whiplash and Brain Traumatology educational program is specifically designed to equip physicians with an arsenal of tools essential to successfully treat such motor vehicle trauma. Indeed, program originator Dr. Croft referenced over 1,700 scientific papers during the course of the first two modules of this course alone.

The curriculum of Module Two of this internationally-recognized program includes in-depth training on all aspects of trauma management, instruction on crash reconstruction and historical documentation in personal injury and forensic medicine applications, as well as the use of diagnostic imaging such as CT, MRI, PET, and EMG. Additionally, Dr. Croft addresses the process of rendering an accurate diagnosis in a personal injury or forensic setting, and successful case management of soft tissue injuries through the incorporation of chiropractic manipulation.

According to Dr. Stutzman, "The principles taught in this program equip physicians with the necessary education to effectively implement emerging medical applications in treating victims of whiplash and other trauma injuries. And being trained by Dr. Croft, who is a well-known and widely respected authority in this field of study, is a real privilege."
