This innovating lifestyle fitness coaching aims to bridge the gap between
personal training and life coaching
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Spencer Institute's Lifestyle Fitness Coaching (LFC) becomes the next revolution in fitness. The LFC certification program bridges the gap between personal training and life coaching.
The LFC course is a program for individuals who would like to be certified as a lifestyle fitness coach (CLFC) and broaden their career options within the fitness industry. LFC and personal training (PT) differ in many ways. LFC offers a comprehensive approach including different coaching concepts, motivational strategies, building rapport with the client, creating meaningful dialog using questionnaires and discussing the client's goals. Whereas, PT offers direct fitness assessments, program technique, structure, and application of the client.
"'Coaching' is an art and 'training' is a science," said Dr. John Spencer Ellis. "When combined together correctly, the client attains higher levels of success and satisfaction."
The certification program offers two different options to become a CLFC. One way is a self-paced, home study program that uses four discs and textbook Lifestyle Fitness Coaching by James Gavin, PhD. The discs included are a CD-ROM manual with course outline, Matching Activities & Personal Styles inventory and two audio CDs featuring Ellis and Gavin. Two free bonuses are also included in the package with a live seminar hosted by Ellis, 7 Secrets to a New Body DVD and a life coaching business success DVD.
The estimated time for course completion with the home study program is
50 hours. There is a multiple-choice exam that must be completed at home as
well as a project using MAPS (matching activities and personal styles)
analysis software. Once the exam and project are completed successfully, a
certification in Lifestyle Fitness Coaching will be issued
