Life Support Technologies’ Mark Chipps Appointed to NFPA-99 Hyperbaric Standards Committee

The Life Support Technologies group (LST) is pleased to announce the appointment of Corporate Compliance Officer Mark Chipps to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)-99 Committee. The NFPA-99 "Healthcare Facilities" document is the national standard for hospital construction and includes a specific chapter on Hyperbaric Chamber facilities. This NFPA-99 chapter sets forth hyperbaric equipment design, installation, operations and staffing standards.

Mark will serve as an alternate committee member to Michael W. Allen, LST Senior Vice President for Safety and Operations. Michael is also a member of the Main Committee of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standard for Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (PVHO) and Chairman of the Medical System sub-committee, which is responsible for the development of the PVHO section specific to medical monoplace and multiplace hyperbaric chambers.

Mark Chipps’ appointment to the NFPA-99 committee is a testament to his unique capabilities and experience. Mark's primary duties are as LST Corporate Compliance Officer which includes the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) National Accreditation program for LST Hyperbaric Hospital Partner facilities. Mark is also the Technical Director of the Nassau University Medical Center Multiplace Hyperbaric Service, East Meadow, NY, which provides both elective and 24/7 Critical Care services to the New York Tri-State area.

Recently, Mark, along with other LST tunnel personnel, led the LST Hyperbaric Tunnelling Support group in helping to complete New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Association (MTA) East-Side Access Tunnel Project connecting the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) with Grand Central Station in Manhattan.
