LegalView Informs Chantix Patients of Risk of Seizures Leading to Traffic Accidents

LegalView recently learned of a new Chantix risk that may be causing patients to have uncontrollable seizures, which are leading to serious traffic accidents as well. In addition to seizures, Chantix has also been under investigation for its link to suicidal thoughts and tendencies.

Denver (PRWEB) November 4, 2008 -- LegalView, the number one resource for anything and everything legal available on the Web, reported of a serious side effect among a Pfizer smoking cessation drug known as Chantix, which is causing patients to blackout and develop bouts of seizures, many of which have occurred while driving leading to traffic accidents, according to a Consumer Affairs news report from May 22, 2008.

A safety watchdog group known as the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) reported data that found approximately 1,001 reports of seizures among Chantix patients within the first quarter of 2008; 15 of these allegedly caused traffic accidents and 52 cases caused the individual to black out. Contacting an experienced pharmaceutical attorney may offer peace of mind for patients of the drug, also, developing a Chantix class action lawsuit may lead to an award of monetary compensation for victims of the potentially harmful Chantix side effects.

Chantix was released for manufacture on May 10, 2006 and only a year and a half later did reports of the drug's side effects begin to surface.
