Leesburg VA Dentist Dr. Gary S. Nelson Introduces Implant Crowns at Leesburg Family Dentistry
Date:4/11/2013

(PRWEB) April 11, 2013

Dr. Gary S. Nelson of Leesburg Family Dentistry in Leesburg, VA recently introduced implant crowns for his dental patients as a better alternative for missing, worn or decayed teeth. With implant crowns, patients no longer have to deal with traditional dental bridges that can be broken or cause issues with gum disease and recession. Implant crowns also don’t require any modifications to the surrounding teeth as a traditional dental crown would.

“When patients don’t have the option of having a real tooth, an implant crown really is the next best alternative,” said Dr. Gary S. Nelson. “These implants look and feel like a real tooth but don’t have the risk of decay or breaking like with a traditional dental bridge.”

Prior to implant crowns, those with missing teeth would have to rely on a dental bridge to fill the void of a missing tooth. With a traditional dental bridge, a dentist would have to file down the two surrounding teeth and create an oral prosthetic that would fit over the modified teeth to essentially ‘bridge’ the gap of the missing tooth. While dental bridges provide an aesthetic fix for the missing tooth, gum and bone recession where the missing tooth once was can be an issue.

With implant crowns, the dentist inserts a small titanium stud into the jawbone of a patient where the natural tooth is missing. This titanium stud has a chance to heal and fuse to the bone, after which the dentist attaches a natural-looking porcelain tooth to fill the void. Implant crowns are created to match the shape and color of the surrounding teeth and are much stronger than even a natural tooth.

Patient reviews of Dr. Gary S. Nelson’s implant crowns have been excellent. Many have reported that the procedure was not painful, and that the look of their new implant has given them a renewed confidence in their smile.

“We’re happy to provide these implant crowns to our patients as the latest advancement in restorative dental care,” said Dr. Gary S. Nelson of Leesburg Family Dentistry. “Not only do our patients leave our practice with a healthier, more functional smile, but we know they feel more confident in it as well.”

Dr. Nelson is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry. He is actively involved in volunteer work in the local community and has also supplied materials for international missions.
