The Learning Center offers over 20 classes for children and their
caregivers this spring
SALINE, Mich., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- My Urban Toddler's Learning Center has begun registering children and their parents for spring classes. The Learning Center is proud to offer over 20 classes covering a wide variety of subjects in the pregnancy, postpartum and early childhood parenting stages.
Rosa Lee, owner of My Urban Toddler (MUT), believes learning during the first 24 months of baby's life should be enjoyable and beneficial for both baby and caregiver. "I really relished simple activities like baby massage or music during my daughter's first year of life," said Ms. Lee. "By far, the best part was being able to socialize with new moms who were going through the same parenting challenges while our babies enjoyed themselves."
To make it easier to participate in The Learning Center activities, MUT offers the Tour Guide Package, which provides childcare and a snack for a baby or toddler while the caregiver enjoys a class. "Often the caregiver is not able to make time for exercise or classes with a new baby," said Katie Nadig, manager. "Our new Tour Guide Package allows caregivers to chose whether they wish to attend classes with a child or on their own."
Keeping in mind all parents and babies are different, Ms. Lee and director Hanna Kitchens have put together a diverse and entertaining Spring curriculum at The Learning Center. "It's often difficult to find time to be with our babies without thinking that we should be 'doing' something for them," said Ms. Kitchens, "our classes are perfect for doing both."
For expecting and new families, classes like Learning to be a Grandparent, Postpartum Support, Postpartum Nutrition and New Mom Breastfeeding Support promote the social interaction and exchange of wisdom that used to be common but has become increasingly rare in modern society. For Moms enjoying babies who are learning to communicate, The Learning Center offers classes like Music Together and Baby Signs. "Before he could speak, my son was telling me what he needed using his signs," said Kamala Rodrigues, a mom from Ann Arbor.
For the caregivers who enjoy physical fitness, classes like Postnatal Yoga, Stroller Fitness and Bollywood Bhangra dance provide a variety of ways to incorporate enjoyable exercise into life with baby. "Exercise can be a big part of mom feeling good about herself," said Anuja Rajendra, teacher of Bollywood Bhangra and mom to two kids. "Moms already have plenty of obligations, so classes should be fun!"
