May is officially known as Skin Cancer Awareness Month in the USA. Although located down under, Platypus Australia, the country's forerunner in fashionable children’s sun protection swimwear, commemorated ‘Melanoma Monday’ on May 6th to kick off their month long mission to bring skin cancer awareness to parents.

With the staggering number of cancer cases diagnosed each year, the public’s concern has led to feverish research to find out what’s causing the epidemic and how to stop it. The solution of covering up and applying and reapplying sunscreen while outdoors sounds easy in theory, but in reality, both tasks are a struggle for parents when their youngsters are at play.

In recognising the importance of being sun-safe, Platypus Australia takes part in the global effort to help reduce cancer rates by educating parents on how to protect their children from the sun. The company’s trendy children’s sun protection swimwear range is consistently rated UPF50+, the highest level of sun defence for clothing in blocking out more than 97.5% of the UV radiation.
