Law Offices of David A. Black Offers Autism Scholarship

The Law Offices of David A. Black, a Phoenix criminal defense law firm, has announced that it will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to help those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD or autism). The scholarship will consist of tuition assistance for the winning applicant at a trade or vocational school, junior college or college.

Autism is a disability that can cause challenges in the area of social communication. Those challenges persist after early childhood, and may involve restricted, repetitive behaviors. ASD also includes a several different conditions such as Asperger syndrome (Asperger’s), autistic disorder, and pervasive development disorder, all of which are now classified as ASD. The nature of ASD also present significant educational challenges. The attorneys and staff at the Law Offices of David A. Black hope that by offering the scholarship, they will encourage those who have been diagnosed with autism to continue to pursue their education.

U.S. citizens who have been diagnosed with ASD/autism are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The applicant is not required to be attending school at the time he or she applies, but the tuition must be utilized within a year from the date the scholarship is awarded.

Those who are interested in the scholarship or in the firm’s scholarship program should visit the firm’s website, which contains pertinent information as well as the online form for the application. Applications must be submitted no later than February 10, 2020, and the announcement of the winning applicant will be made no later than June 22, 2020.
