Laser Spine Institute (LSI) Supports Jingle Bell Run
Date:12/17/2009

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The recently opened Laser Spine Institute in Philadelphia is already out in the community in full force this holiday season, as they sponsored the 2009 Jingle Bell Run on December 13th, benefiting the Arthritis Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, control and cure of arthritis. The event boasted 1,500 attendees, spotlighting LSI's passion for their newest locale.

The Jingle Bell Run is a renowned, national fundraiser and a festive way to get in the holiday spirit while fighting arthritis, the nation's most common cause of disability. The run raised $189,252 in total donations in Philadelphia alone.

This effort is only one way LSI is encouraging everyone to stay healthy during the holidays. In honor of the Jingle Bell Run, the experts at LSI also offer some helpful tips to avoid the pain of back problems this holiday:

  • Because traveling may change sleep patterns in terms of mattresses, time changes and schedules, LSI recommends adding support by placing pillows under or between knees while sleeping.
  • LSI also suggests wrapping gifts at a table or countertop. Kneeling or sitting on the floor causes straining, putting a great deal of stress on the neck, lower back and pelvis.

LSI is devoted to serving athletes with back and neck pain across the country. The team of physicians helps many runners get their lives back and achieve their goals, like Ingrid Honzak, a lifelong marathon runner. Ingrid says of her LSI procedure, "It's amazing what LSI can do! I finished the New York City Marathon just six weeks after my endoscopic spine surgery, and I would encourage anyone who is interested in having back or neck surgery to contact LSI."
