Lacey Veterinarian Awarded 2007 WSVMA Recent Graduate Award

BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --- The Washington State Veterinary Medical Association awarded its 2007 Student/Recent Graduate Award, to Blair Burggren, a veterinarian with Olympia Pet Emergency in Lacey.

Dr. Burggren received his award in recognition of his dedication to organized veterinary medicine in Washington. A 2003 graduate of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, he has served as a member of the WSVMA Executive Board since 2004. He represents the South Puget Sound Veterinary Medical Association and has also served as president of that organization.

In just four years since graduation, Dr. Burggren has shown initiative as a leader in his community and brought a wealth of insight to the WSVMA. In his area, he took the initiative to train local fire departments in pet first aid to ensure first responders were better able to handle pet emergencies during a fire.

Dr. Burggren received his award on September 29, during the WSVMA's annual banquet and award ceremony in Yakima.

The WSVMA is a statewide, not-for-profit, professional organization for the benefit of veterinary medicine. The WSVMA has over 1,600 members, representing veterinarians, veterinary students and a broad spectrum of veterinary practice.
