LabRoots Presents an Educational Webinar Exploring the Clinical Relevance of Vitamin D Metabolites
Date:5/3/2017

A number of studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency is very common in both the developing and developed world. This has increased the interest of the general public. Vitamin D is a generic designation for a group of fat-soluble, structurally similar sterols including ergocalciferol D2 from plants and cholecalciferol D3 from animals.

In this webinar, attendees will gain a better understanding of the pathophysiology of vitamin D and the two sources it’s derived from in the body exogenous (dietary: D2 and D3) and endogenous (biosynthesis: D3). And overview of the applications this has in the clinical laboratories will also be provided.

LabRoots has arranged for Dr. Ravinder Singh, director of the Endocrine Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic, will be the speaker for this event, which is made possible by an open educational grant from Agilent Technologies, Inc.

As the director of the Mayo Clinic Endocrine Laboratory, Singh focuses on the area of investigation that has broad applicability to the field. Singh studies the application of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to clinical laboratory analysis. Singh's work has directly contributed to improving methods for the clinical diagnosis of Cushing's disease, pheochromocytoma and congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

LabRoots will host the webinar May 23, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. PDT, 1:00 p.m. EDT. To read more on this event, learn about the continuing education credits offered, or to register for free, click here.
