individuals to help us by donating and showcasing our parks." Freshpet(R) is a proud supporter of the L.A. Parks Foundation, a recently-formed non-profit whose mission is to enhance, expand, preserve and promote parks in the City of Los Angeles.

Spelling's dog, Madison, is the "honorary chairdog" for the event and will recruit other dogs to help her promote the event. "The more people who bring their dogs, the more funds our parks will receive," Spelling adds.

Bark for the Cure(TM) was created by Freshpet(R), the only U.S. manufacturer of fresh, refrigerated food for dogs. The all-natural food is made from human-grade meats and vegetables, and contains no by-products, fillers, wheat gluten, corn, or preservatives. All of the major ingredients are locally-sourced near the company's plant in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

"At Freshpet we believe that good nutrition leads to a healthier life for our companion animals," said Scott Morris, co-founder of Freshpet. "More research is needed in the area of prevention and treatment of disease and the role nutrition plays. The purpose of Bark for the Cure is to truly make a difference and improve the knowledge around cancer and other diseases in dogs."

Bark for the Cure's(TM) main fundraising efforts are specifically targeted towards canine cancer research, which is the number one natural cause of death in older dogs according to the Veterinary Oncology & Hematology Center. The research being done into finding a cure for canine cancer may also help produce breakthroughs in the prevention, treatment and cures of human cancers -- in particular childhood cancers.
