Kwalu Receives Innovative Technology Contract from Vizient for GetWell Furniture
Date:5/14/2019

Kwalu announced today that it has received an Innovative Technology contract from Vizient, Inc., the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country. The contract was awarded for Kwalu’s GetWell Surfaces furniture line and based on the recommendation of hospital experts from one of Vizient’s member-led councils.

Kwalu’s award-winning, wellness-focused, solid surfaces are created to aid in the fight against antibiotic-resistance and healthcare-associated infections. Kwalu’s surfaces are healthcare-chemical proof, graffiti proof and guaranteed to look like new for 10 years. Kwalu’s furniture offers long- term cleanability and durability that help solve serious challenges in healthcare environments.

“Hospitals cannot afford to continue replacing their patient- and waiting-room furniture every few years. Nor can they risk harboring bacteria,” said Sylvia Nash, Kwalu vice president of healthcare. “We’re proud to offer truly innovative and wellness-focused furniture and excited about working closely with Vizient members.”

“We are pleased to award this contract to Kwalu,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and leader of the Vizient Innovative Technology program for suppliers. “After reviewing GetWell Surfaces, Vizient’s member council agreed this solution offers a unique benefit to health care providers and recommended it for an Innovative Technology contract.”

Vizient represents a diverse membership base that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers and represents approximately $100 billion in annual purchasing volume. Through its Innovative Technology Program, Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, Vizient may award a contract outside of the competitive bid cycle.
