1 in 8 American women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. In 2008 alone, an estimated 40,930 women and men will die in the U.S. from breast cancer. 2.5 million breast cancer survivors and their families want breast cancer to be a priority. 90 percent of voters want the federal government to pay more attention to breast cancer research and access to screening and quality treatment for all, according to a survey commissioned by the Komen Advocacy Alliance. Yet amazingly, nearly 90 percent also said they were unaware of their preferred presidential candidate's position on issues relating to breast cancer.
