mark this
milestone in our history is further demonstration of our company's
commitment to caring for our customers, employees and our community," said
Doug Sutton, manager of the Kimberly-Clark Professional San Antonio plant.
"All of us at the San Antonio plant are delighted to make this gift and
launch this new program with the BGCSA to underscore our commitment to
improving the quality of life in our hometown and to helping to improve the
health and hygiene of the next generation."
"We are grateful for the support we've received from Kimberly-Clark
Professional today as well as in the past and we look forward to
implementing this exciting new program," said Jim Watson, Executive
Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio. "We hope this program
will help build the foundation for a lifetime of health benefits resulting
from good hygiene habits."
The restroom makeover contest will offer a $1,000 cash prize to the
winning club. Kimberly-Clark Professional will provide the Clubs with
paint, paint brushes, cleaning supplies, and new soap and hand towel
dispensers. A panel of judges comprised of employees from the San Antonio
plant will select the winner.
In addition, Kimberly-Clark Professional will work with the BGCSA to
develop a handwashing and personal hygiene educational class to ensure that
all local Clubs will have the curriculum available to serve Club kids and
their families.
During its 30 years in operation, the San Antonio plant has been a
valued contributor to the community, donating hundreds of thousands of
dollars to various local charitable organizations.
Other interesting facts about the plant include the following:
-- Nearly 150 million gallons of liquid skin care products have been made
since the plant opened in 1977. That's enough for everyone on the
planet today to wash their hands 23 times!
