Kimberly Clark Professional Skin Care Plant Celebrates 30th Anniversary and Strong Heritage of Success in San Antonio

To Commemorate Anniversary, Facility Announces $10,000 Donation and

Restroom Makeover Contest to Benefit Local Boys & Girls Clubs

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Antonio manufacturing facility of Kimberly-Clark Professional marked its 30th anniversary today by announcing a $10,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) as well as the creation of a program to help local Clubs teach children the health benefits of good hygiene habits. Both announcements were made during a dignitary event, which was followed by a tour of the plant.

The event underscored the importance of manufacturing to the local San Antonio economy. According to a recent economic impact study, in 2006, employees of San Antonio's manufacturing sector averaged a 13 percent greater salary than other workers in the area. Companies such as Kimberly-Clark Professional offer opportunities for local workers to be part of this skilled labor force.

"On behalf of the state of Texas, we congratulate the Kimberly-Clark Professional San Antonio plant for 30 years of helping to enhance the health of people everywhere," said State Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon, District 120, who spoke during the event. "As an advocate for the improvement of children's healthcare, I would also like to extend my personal gratitude for their contributions to the community and for the health initiative the facility is announcing today."

Five students from the local Boys & Girls Clubs participated in a soap- making workshop and in the tour of the facility. Such workshops will be an ongoing part of the newly announced program, which will also include a restroom makeover contest among several of the Clubs in the San Antonio area. BGCSA student-members will regularly visit the plant for hands-on learning opportunities, and receive health and hygiene tips including guidance for proper handwashing.
