Southlake, TX (PRWEB) May 17, 2013
Kids Matter International is pleased to announce the Congressional Art Contest Winner for 2013 is Phuong Nguyen from Carrollton, Texas. The winner was announced during Art in the Square in Southlake, Texas on April 28. Kids Matter International provides the winning recipient with hotel accommodations in Washington D.C. and funds for trip incidentals.
Kids Matter International (KMI) sponsors and supports the annual Congressional Art Contest for the 24th U.S. Congressional District of Texas. Hundreds of entries are submitted each year from school-aged children in the area. The winner and their family attend a special ceremony in Washington, D.C. where the winning art is displayed in the nation’s Capitol.
Support of the Congressional Art Contest for District 26 of Texas has been an outstanding joint effort between Congressman Kenny Marchant’s office and Kids Matter International.
KMI believes that no child should be in crisis. Today’s children are not only subjected to the crises of poverty, abuse, and neglect, but they are also subject to many other unfortunate situations.
With budget cuts at the local, state and federal levels, the first things generally removed from the curriculum are physical fitness programs and the arts, such as music, painting, and theatre. KMI believes these are necessary for the total development of a child.
