Harvard author Dr. John Abramson and health care ethics expert Dr. John Golenski to address human resources, benefits and managed care professionals

CHICAGO, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Midwest Business Group on Health and Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists announced the keynote speakers and agenda for the third annual Pharmacy Benefits Academy (PBA) to be held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago, August 4-5, 2009. The program provides human resources, benefits and managed care professionals, union trustees and other health care stakeholders, with the information and tools needed to better manage pharmacy costs and related benefits, and improve the health outcomes of their covered populations using these benefits.

The featured keynote speakers for this event are John Abramson, M.D., author of "Overdosed America" and a clinical instructor at Harvard University, School of Medicine, and John Golenski, Ed.D, president and founder of Health Priorities Group, a consulting team that works with employers and managed care organizations to better understand the ethical implications of pharmacy benefit design. Dr. Abramson will share his perspectives as a general physician on how to take back health care and manage pharmacy benefits. Dr. Golenski will address the role ethical decisions should play in pharmacy benefit plan design, including cost-sharing for expensive drugs, future treatment of DNA-specific disease, end-of-life treatment plans and off-label use of drugs.
