Keller Williams Realty and Harvest Food & Outreach Center to Provide 500 Christmas Meals for Area’s Needy Families

This Christmas, Keller Williams Realty of Port St Lucie will be partnering with Harvest Food & Outreach Center of St. Lucie to provide food and hope to those struggling with financial hardship. Through its H.O.P.E. for Christmas initiative, Keller Williams realtors have raised the funds necessary to provide a complete Christmas dinner, including turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables and gravy, to 500 families identified by Harvest Food & Outreach Center as falling below the Federal Income poverty level.

On Friday, December 21 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Keller Williams volunteers will be on site at Harvest Food & Outreach Center’s Orange Avenue campus to distribute the meals to these families. Families will be provided with a numbered voucher that they will present to the volunteers to receive their meals. Identified families include those that are participating in Harvest’s "Passport to Prosperity" program and its cost share grocery members. The "Passport to Prosperity" program pairs life skills education with on the job training for families identified by Workforce Solutions of the Treasure Coast. Participants learn valuable budgeting, positive communication and job skills.

Keller Williams’ H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat) initiative came about in 2010 when the group realized that some within the local community may need assistance providing food for their families during the holidays. The group includes some 40 realtors in Port St Lucie who have been donating a percentage of their commissions to the project and have raised enough to provide these complete meals to 500 families. The cost per meal is approximately $22.
