Keane Completes Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Implementation for New Jersey-Based Acute Care Facility

BOSTON, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Keane, Inc., a global services firm that specializes in optimizing businesses' Information Technology (IT) investments, today announced that it has completed an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation at Capital Health, a two-hospital, 589-bed regional health network, including an ambulatory facility, based in Mercer County, N.J.

Keane's solutions help U.S. healthcare facilities modernize their operations by using technology to prevent medical mistakes, provide better patient care, and implement the most effective treatments, while at the same time achieving cost-saving efficiencies and meaningful returns on health information technology investments. Keane Optimum is especially well suited to help healthcare facilities accelerate the adoption of EMRs in response to the Healthcare IT provisions in the recently approved American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Specifically, Optimum allows providers to enhance quality, maintain privacy, support clinical decision making and begin to move to a more interoperable environment for improved health care delivery.

As part of its project at Capital Health, Keane installed clinical components of its iMed solution throughout the facility to provide clinicians with immediate access to patient information using a secure, web-enabled technology at the point of service. The facility has rolled out more than 150 computers on wheels (COWs) to assist medical staff at the point of care to ensure accuracy of treatment information.

"Capital Health has a strong commitment to provide our patients with the most state-of-the-art technology supporting the highest standard of care and patient safety," said Gene Grochala, Vice President and CIO of Capital Health. "Keane's iMed product was the most effective solution on the market for us to modernize our entire healthcare IT infrastructure within our existing facilities, while also putting in place a scalable solution to support future growth, as plans for a new facility are well underway."

"We were highly impressed with the professionalism, dedication and expertise of the entire Keane team, who partnered with us closely to complete this implementation so rapidly," added Mr. Grochala.

"The healthcare industry is undergoing a dramatic evolution aimed at leveraging information technology for better patient care and improved operational efficiencies," said Larry Coon, Vice President - Professional Services, for Keane's Healthcare Solutions Division. "We are delighted to be at the forefront of this industry trend by partnering with forward-thinking facilities such as Capital Health, as they take decisive steps to equip their physicians and caregivers with a healthcare IT platform that helps reduce errors and encourages better-informed clinical decisions while generating workflow efficiencies."
