Kaufman Shows People With Diabetes How to Use New Technology to Improve Their Lives
Date:5/21/2013

ydrate, in order to customize your insulin use to your body’s individual needs,” she writes. “These are critical skills to have in your journey with diabetes.”

Kaufman says the benefits of insulin pumps are many .The pumps reduce hypoglycemia, improve A1C levels, improve quality of life and reduce daily insulin dosages. CGM gives real-time glucose readings and, when combined with an insulin pump, allows for the management of glucose levels on the go.

Kaufman is grateful for the new advances in technology but believes the best is yet to come: Dr. Kaufman is leading the development of an artificial pancreas.

“We have come a long way, and the reality of an artificial pancreas is in sight,” she writes. “The end result will be the near-perfect control of glucose levels without much human intervention.”

Dr. Kaufman’s book, Insulin Pumps and Glucose Monitoring, is available at http://www.ExtendNutrition.com.
