Date:9/1/2009

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In November, the world's most renowned autism experts will convene at the National Autism Conference (NAC) in Florida to cover everything from cutting-edge research to dietary interventions, therapies, children's rights, and marital coaching.

The speaker lineup is set to include Dr. Martha Herbert, Dr. Susan Swedo, Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, Dr. Russell Blaylock, Dr. Jerry Kartzinel, writer David Kirby, and longtime advocate Barbara Loe Fisher. Dr. Andrew Wakefield will deliver the keynote address.

The conference lineup also features a lecture by Soma Mukhopadhyay, developer of the Rapid Prompting Method technique of teaching individuals with autism. Soma, also known as Tito's Mom, has garnered the attention of the international media with the success of her unique and effective teaching methods. Her story will be also be featured in the upcoming documentary The Sunshine Boy, narrated by Kate Winslet.

The issue of restraint and seclusion in public schools will also be covered at this year's conference. Parents and teachers are invited to join in learning the latest in de-escalation methods and what can be done to prevent harmful restraint and seclusion practices. The topic of IEP's will also be covered in a separate full-day Special Ed Law workshop that will be made available to the public as a separate event, an NAC first.

A new feature this year is the discounted companion pass. Attendees can bring their spouse, therapists, friends, co-workers or family members to the conference for a special rate of $125.

Sponsored by OxyHealth, LLC, the leading manufacturer in the personal hyperbaric industry, the NAC spans four days and will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Weston, Florida from November 12th through the 15th. A tropical resort setting, the Hyatt Regency is an environmentally friendly hotel that allows attendees well-earned time for relaxation.

The conference will also offer special events, such as a free screening of 'Autism: Made In the USA' with the film's producer Gary Null and the annual Life's a Beach dinner party featuring a special performance by Sam Debold - a wonderfully talented young musician who has recovered from autism. Free food items and beverages will be available throughout the conference to help make this an affordable event for families.
