Kardea Enhances Medical Nutrition System for Cholesterol Lowering
Date:5/4/2009

Kardea Nutrition LLC enhances it system for natural cholesterol lowering with the introduction of Fiber Plus with Plant Sterols, a unique blend of nutrients proven to lower cholesterol.

Hamden, Conn (PRWEB) May 4, 2009 -- Kardea Nutrition LLC enhances it system for natural cholesterol lowering with the introduction of Fiber Plus with Plant Sterols, a unique blend of nutrients proven to lower cholesterol.

Kardea Fiber Plus contains plant sterols and fiber from oats and psyllium.    Each of these ingredients has been shown independently to lower cholesterol. Kardea's newest product delivers sufficient levels to meet the FDA healthy heart claims for each of these nutrients.

Kardea enables individuals to achieve the cholesterol-managing recommendations of the National Institutes of Health's National Cholesterol Education Program. The NCEP recommends at least 10 grams per day of certain types of soluble fiber and 2 grams per day of plant sterols. A diet restricting cholesterol, saturated fats and trans fats coupled with these nutriients can lower cholesterol by 30% or more.

Only a limited amount of the cholesterol in the human body comes from food. Most is produced in the human liver.    Nutritional therapy alters the way our bodies produce and process cholesterol.

"Cholesterol lowering achieved through nutrition offers each of us the opportunity to promote our own heart health and wellness. For those with borderline high cholesterol, an integrated nutritional approach offers an alternative to prescription medications such as statins. For those who might require these medications, this approach may offer an opportunity to minimize dosage levels," states Rob Leighton, Kardea's founder.

The science underlying Kardea's products has been extensively reviewed by numerous organizations including the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the National Institutes of Health. "The science is strong, but consuming therapeutic levels of key nutrients each and every day can be difficult. I know. I work at it each day. With delicious fortified foods, Kardea better enables the appropriate daily intake," says Leighton.
