KORT Physical Therapy Expands Services to Include In-Home Physical Therapy
Date:12/29/2012

Louisville, Kentucky (PRWEB) December 29, 2012

Recently, KORT expanded its services to include short-term, home-based physical therapy, both prior to and following orthopedic surgery when skilled nursing is not needed.

“This program allows us to better serve our patient population and provides that necessary transition between the hospital and out-patient physical therapy. Patients usually only need 2-3 home visits before they are ready to continue their treatment in one of our convenient clinic settings. It’s this continuum of care that translates into better outcomes and fewer overall visits for our patients,” said KORT President Jason Chambers.

The Outreach program includes:

  •     pre-operative consultation and education to help patients prepare for orthopedic surgery
  •     post-operative expert physical therapy for total joint replacement and other orthopedic procedures

According to KORT Rehab at Home and Outreach Services Executive Director Shauneen Bouthilette, RN, MSN, patients are encouraged to schedule prior to their surgery and meet with a physical therapist where they will be given exercises to help strengthen their muscles and joints, and learn what will be required following their surgery.

“These pre-surgery visits will help us educate our patients so they are in better shape prior to surgery and know what to expect during the recovery process. Research has shown that this type of preparation before and care following orthopedic surgery allows for fewer physical therapy visits and better overall outcomes for patients,” said Bouthilette.

KORT is offering these services in Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Nelson, Washington , Marion and Taylor counties in Kentucky, and in the cities of Elizabethtown (Hardin County) and Brandenburg (Meade County) Kentucky. For more information, call 855-315-5095 or visit http://www.kort.com. All insurances are accepted.

Most health insurance plans now allow patients to seek physical therapy treatment directly without a physician referral.

Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team (KORT) has been serving the communities of Kentucky and Southern Indiana for over 25 years, providing clinical excellence and customer service in outpatient physical and occupational therapy. KORT clinicians work one-on-one with patients to regain strength, increase flexibility, improve mobility, and reduce pain without drugs or surgery. Locally managed and operated, KORT has nearly 40 clinics specializing in orthopedics, sports and industrial medicine, with more board-certified specialists than any other physical therapy provider in Kentucky.
