About Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that often impairs motor skills and speech. Each year approximately 60,000 Americans receive the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, joining the 1.5 million Americans who have already been diagnosed. While most people with Parkinson's develop this disease after age 65, 15 percent are diagnosed under the age of 50. Equal numbers of men and women get Parkinson's disease.
