Just In Time for National Heart Month
Date:2/20/2009

LEWISVILLE, N.C., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- A new product made from a proprietary formula containing Muscadine grape skins and seed powder is expected to provide a potent nutritional weapon in the fight against the nation's number one killer, heart disease.

The use of Muscadine grapes and phytonutrients in Muscadine grapes for cardiovascular problems was first reported at international conferences held in Varanesi, India and Singapore in 2006 and 2007 (see www.muscadinenaturals.com for the complete published review). The product Muscadine Plus "Heart Healthy Formula" is being introduced this month to commemorate National Heart Month said Dr. William D. Wagner, senior research scientist for Muscadine Naturals and Fellow of the American Heart Association. Muscadine Plus "Heart Healthy Formula" was designed specifically to provide an all natural way using dietary supplementation to address problems of high cholesterol and other risk factors of heart disease.

The thick skin of the Native American Muscadine grape contains more than 200 phytonutrient compounds (polyphenols), many of which are natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. The Muscadine grape has been termed the "Super Grape" since it has at least 5 kinds of resveratrol, quercetin, ellagic acid and several types of catechins, all of which have been studied for their healthy effects.

The proprietary formula contains high concentrations of polyphenols, Coenzyme Q-10 and Vitamin E. These elements when combined are designed to provide protection against oxidation of plasma lipids, abnormal clotting, elevated blood pressure and heart failure, Dr. Wagner said.

The product is available in food, drug and specialty food stores. Call 888-628-5898 for locations.
