Awards Honor Outstanding Senior Citizen Advocates
DETROIT, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- There is still time before the July 11 deadline to nominate deserving Michigan senior citizen advocates for the 18th annual Claude Pepper Awards sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
The awards are presented to two individuals whose professional or volunteer efforts have significantly improved the lives of Michigan seniors, particularly those whose access to health care services may be hindered by physical, mental, financial or geographical limitations. The awards are named for the late Florida Sen. Claude Pepper, one of the principal sponsors of the Older Americans Act of 1965 and a major force in strengthening Social Security and Medicare.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Senior Advisory Council Education Committee will review all Claude Pepper Award nominations. Winners each receive a $1,000 donation for their respective nonprofit organizations. Runners-up will receive certificates of merit.
