SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Julio Palmaz, M.D., of Palmaz Scientific, will be seen at next week's Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Conference in San Francisco as a discussant, presenter and lecturer on Sept. 21-23, during the first three days of the event.
Palmaz is the opening lecturer and closing discussant next week during the Coronary Stent Design and Device Development portion of the conference lasting from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 23. He begins at 2 p.m. with his lecture about Device Development and the Relevance of Vascular Implantable Materials.
In his lecture, Dr. Palmaz looks to address current design problems and discuss solutions for the future of implantable devices.
In addition to his lecture, Palmaz completes the first day of the conference on Monday as a discussant during the segment "Questions for the Master Innovators" of The Biodesign Innovation Workshop (in collaboration with Stanford University Medical Center) taking place in room 120 and running from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Tuesday Palmaz is one of a select few on the expert's panel presenting critical commentary to conclude session one, the overview of the Interventional Innovation: Novel Therapies and the "Best" New Device Concepts for 2009.
Palmaz serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Scientist of Palmaz Scientific, Inc., and holds the Ashbel Smith Professorship as a tenured professor at the University of Texas Health and Science Center at San Antonio. His development of the first commercially successful balloon expandable intravascular stent 20 years ago revolutionized the medical device industry. Palmaz is also on the Scientific Committee of the TCT course directors and organizers, In 1999, Palmaz won the TCT Career Achievement Award.
